INTROIT. Os Justi. Psalm 37
THE mouth of the righteous is exercised in wisdom, and his tongue
will be talking of judgement: the law of God is in his heart.
Ps. ibid. Fret not thyself because of the ungodly: neither

The Collect.
GRANT, O Lord, that the solemn festival of thy holy Confessor
Saint Anthony may bring gladness to thy Church: that being defended
by thy succour in all things spiritual; we may be found worthy
to attain to everlasting felicity. Through.
The Epistle. 1 Corinthians 4:9b-14 [From Mass 15 Justus ut palma]
9 We are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and
to men.
10 We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ;
we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are
despised.
11 Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and
are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
12 And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we
bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:
13 Being defamed, we entreat: we are made as the filth of the
world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.
14 I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons
I warn you.
Gradual. Psalm 92. The righteous shall flourish like
a palm-tree: and shall spread abroad like a cedar in Libanus
in the house of the Lord. V. To tell of thy loving-kindness early
in the morning, and of thy truth in the night-season.
Alleluia, alleluia. V. Eccles. 45. The Lord loved him,
and adorned him: he clothed him with a robe of glory. Alleluia.
The Gospel. St Luke 12:35-50 [From Mass 14 Os justi]
35 Let your loins be girded about,
and your lights burning;
36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord,
when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and
knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall
find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself,
and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve
them.
38 And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third
watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
39 And this know, that if the goodman of the house had known
what hour the thief would come, he would have watched, and not
have suffered his house to be broken through.
40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an
hour when ye think not.
Offertory.Ps. 89. My truth also and my mercy shall be with him:
and in my Name shall his horn be exalted.

whom his lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say
