Ps. ibid. O sing unto the Lord a new song : sing unto
the Lord the whole earth. V. Glory be.

We beseech thee, O Lord, graciously to regard the devout prayers
of thy people: that they, who by abstinence do mortify the deeds
of the flesh, may by the fruit of good works be renewed in the
spirit of their minds. Through.

EPISTLE. Ezekiel 18:1-9
1 IN those days: The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,
2 What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land
of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the
children's teeth are set on edge?
3 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any
more to use this proverb in Israel.
4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also
the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall
die.
5 But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,
6 And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted
up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath
defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous
woman,
7 And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor
his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread
to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
8 He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken
any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath
executed true judgment between man and man,
9 Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to
deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord
GOD.
GRADUAL. Ps. 17. Keep me, O Lord, as the
apple of an eye: hide me under the shadow of thy wings.
V. Let my sentence come forth from thy presence: and let
thine eyes look upon the thing that is equal.
GOSPEL. St. Matthew 15:21-28
21 AT that time: Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts
of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts,
and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son
of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and
besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost
sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's
bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs
which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy
faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was
made whole from that very hour.
OFFERTORY. Ps. 34. The Angel of the Lord
tarrieth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them:
O taste and see, how gracious the Lord is.
SECRET.
Grant, we beseech thee, O Lord, that this sacrifice, which we
offer unto thee in this time of fasting ordained for the healing

I will give is my Flesh, which I will give for the life of the
world.
