MISSAL PROPERS:
THE 18TH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY

INTROIT. Da pacem. Ecclus. 36:16
GIVE peace, O Lord, unto them that wait for thee, and let thy prophets be found faithful: hear the prayer of thy servants, and of thy people Israel. Ps. 122 I was glad when they said unto me: we will go into the house of the Lord. V. Glory be.

COLLECT.
LORD, we beseech thee, grant thy people grace to withstand the temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil: and with pure hearts and minds to follow thee the only God. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. [Who.]

Collect 2 of the Saints, 3 ad lib.

EPISTLE. 1 Corinthians 1:4-8
4 I THANK my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
5 That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
7 So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
8 Who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

GRADUAL. Ps. 122
I was glad when they said unto me: We will go into the house of the Lord. V. Peace be within thy walls, and plenteousness within thy palaces.
Alleluia, alleluia. V. Ps. 102 The heathen shall fear thy Name, O Lord: and all the kings of the earth thy majesty. Alleluia.

GOSPEL. St Matthew 22:34-46
34 WHEN the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The son of David.
43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.

OFFERTORY. Exod. 24. Moses builded an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings upon it, and sacrificed peace offerings: and he made an evening sacrifice for a sweet-smelling savour unto the Lord God, in the eyes of the children of Israel.

SECRET.
Almighty God, we humbly beseech thy majesty: that we which here perform these holy mysteries may thereby be absolved from all our former sins, and evermore defended against all temptations. Through.

SECRET of the Saints, 3 ad lib.

COMMUNION. Ps. 95. Bring presents and come into his courts: O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

POSTCOMMUNION.
GRANT, we beseech thee, Almighty God: that thy sanctifying power may effectually cleanse us from all our sins, and be profitable for our healing unto life everlasting. Through.
