The First
Lesson
1 Samuel 23:7-18
7 And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul
said, God hath delivered him into mine hand; for he is shut in,
by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.
8 And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down
to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.
9 And David knew that Saul secretly practised mischief against
him; and he said to Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.
10 Then said David, O LORD God of Israel, thy servant hath certainly
heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city
for my sake.
11 Will
the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come
down, as thy servant hath heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech
thee, tell thy servant. And the LORD said, He will come down.
12 Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my
men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver
thee up.
13 Then David and his men, which were about six hundred, arose
and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could
go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah;
and he forbare to go forth.
14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained
in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him
every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
15 And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life: and
David was in the wilderness of Ziph in a wood.
16 And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the
wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
17 And he said unto him, Fear not: for the hand of Saul my father
shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and
I shall be Next
18 And they two made a covenant before the LORD: and David abode
in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.

The Second
Lesson
Luke 20:41-21:4
41 And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's
son?
42 And David himself saith in the book of Ps, The LORD said unto
my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
43 Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
44 David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?
45 Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,
46 Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes,
and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the
synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;
47 Which devour widows' houses, and for a show make long prayers:
the same shall receive greater damnation.
1 And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts
into the treasury.
2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two
mites.
3 And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow
hath cast in more than they all:
4 For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings
of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that
she had.
2nd Lesson Questions -
Am I more like the poor widow giving her two mites, or the rich giving out of their abundance? Why? RESOLVE.
