The First
Lesson
2 Samuel 5:1-10
1 Then came all the tribes of Israel to David unto Hebron, and
spake, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.
2 Also in time past, when Saul was king over us, thou wast he
that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said
to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be
a captain over Israel.
3 So all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and
king David made a league with them in Hebron before the LORD:
and they anointed David king over Israel.
4 David was thirty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned
forty years.
5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months:
and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel
and Judah.
6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites,
the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying,
Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not
come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.
7 Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is
the city of David.
8 And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter,
and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are
hated of David's soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore
they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
9 So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David.
And David built round about from Millo and inward.
10 And
David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was
with him.

The Second
Lesson
Luke 22:47-62
47 And while he yet spake, behold a multitude, and he that was
called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near
unto Jesus to kiss him.
48 But Jesus said unto him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of
man with a kiss?
49 When they which were about him saw what would follow, they
said unto him, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?
50 And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and
cut off his right ear.
51 And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched
his ear, and healed him.
52 Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the
temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out,
as against a thief, with swords and staves?
53 When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth
no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of
darkness.
54 Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the
high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.
55 And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall,
and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.
56 But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly
looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
57 And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.
58 And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art
also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
59 And about the space of one hour after another confidently
affirmed, saying, Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for
he is a Galilaean.
60 And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately,
while he yet spake, the cock crew.
61 And the Lord turned, and looked upon Peter. And Peter remembered
the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock
crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
62 And Peter went out, and wept bitterly.
2nd Lesson Questions -
