The First
Lesson
Nahum 1:3-8, 15
3 The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not
at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind
and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet.
4 He rebuketh the sea, and maketh it dry, and drieth up all the
rivers: Bashan languisheth, and Carmel, and the flower of Lebanon
languisheth.
5 The mountains quake at him, and the hills melt, and the earth
is burned at his presence, yea, the world, and all that dwell
therein.
6 Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in
the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire,
and the rocks are thrown down by him.
7 The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and
he knoweth them that trust in him.
8 But
with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place
thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
15 Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts,
perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee;
he is utterly cut off.
1st Lesson Questions -
If God is goodness and love, why would He "make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies"? (V. 8) What had Nineveh done? (Use an annotated bible for help.) RESOLVE.
The Second
Lesson
Romans 8:18-27
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are
not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed
in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the
manifestation of the sons of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly,
but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the
bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children
of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth
in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits
of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting
for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope:
for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience
wait for it.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know
not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself
maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind
of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints
according to the will of God.
2nd Lesson Questions -
How's my patience? Do I have any? Do I live my life as if I firmly embraced verse 18? RESOLVE.
