First Lesson
Exodus 13:17-14:4
17 And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that
God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines,
although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people
repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt:
18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness
of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed
out of the land of Egypt.
19 And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly
sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you;
and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you.
20 And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in
Etham, in the edge of the wilderness.
21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud,
to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give
them light; to go by day and night:
22 He
took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar
of fire by night, from before the people.
1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp
before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against
Baal-zephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea.
3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled
in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.
4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after
them; and I will be honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host;
that the Egyptians may know that I am the LORD. And they did
so.
1st Lesson Questions -
The Lord went before the people day and night, and "took not away the pillar of the cloud." (V. 22) Do I believe God always protects me, also? RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
Hebrews
2:1-8
1
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things
which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression
and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;
3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which
at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed
unto us by them that heard him;
4 God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders,
and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according
to his own will?
5 For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world
to come, whereof we speak.
6 But one in a certain place testified, saying, What is man,
that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man, that thou visitest
him?
7 Thou madest him a little lower than the angels; thou crownedst
him with glory and honour, and didst set him over the works of
thy hands:
8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For
in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that
is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under
him.
2nd Lesson Questions -
How easy is it to slip in the faith? (V. 1) When was the last time I did? Why? Look up and compare these two sets of verses - Ps 8:4-6 and Hebrews 2:6-8. RESOLVE.
