First Lesson
Jeremiah 4:11-22
11 At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem,
A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter
of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,
12 Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now
also will I give sentence against them.
13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall
be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto
us! for we are spoiled.
14 O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest
be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
15 For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction
from mount Ephraim.
16 Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem,
that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice
against the cities of Judah.
17 As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because
she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.
18 Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee;
this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth
unto thine heart.
19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart
maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast
heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.
20 Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land
is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in
a moment.
21 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the
trumpet?
22 For
my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish
children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to
do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
1st Lesson Questions -
What is it to be a sottish child? (V. 22) Do I sometimes act as if I am a bit sottish, also? RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
John 10:1-10
1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the
door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the
same is a thief and a robber.
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the
sheep.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and
he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And
when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and
the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And
a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for
they know not the voice of strangers.
6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not
what things they were which he spake unto them.
7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto
you, I am the door of the sheep.
8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the
sheep did not hear them.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved,
and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The
thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:
I am come that they might have life, and that they might have
it more abundantly.
2nd Lesson Questions -
Is Jesus my shepherd? Do I know His voice? (V. 4) Do I follow Him? (V. 5) Do I believe verse 10? How does my life reflect my belief? RESOLVE.
