First Lesson
Isaiah 63:7-14
7
I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises
of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on
us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which
he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according
to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.
8 For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will
not lie: so he was their Saviour.
9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of
his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed
them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.
10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he
was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.
11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people,
saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with
the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit
within him?
12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious
arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting
name?
13 That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness,
that they should not stumble?
14 As
a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused
him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a
glorious name.
QUESTIONS - Isaiah 63:7-14. How often do I recall the lovingkindnesses of God? (V.7) Should I do so more often? What stops me from doing that? Am I allowing God to lead me, in order to make Him a glorious name? (V. 14) RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
1 John 3:1-11
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us,
that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world
knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear
what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we
shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself,
even as he is pure.
4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin
is the transgression of the law.
5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and
in him is no sin.
6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath
not seen him, neither known him.
7 Little
children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness
is righteous, even as he is righteous.
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth
from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested,
that he might destroy the works of the devil.
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed
remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children
of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,
neither he that loveth not his brother.
11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning,
that we should love one another.
QUESTIONS - 1 John 3:1-11. Verse 3 says there is a Christian hope. What is my hope? Is it obvious to others? Do I believe verse 7? How am I doing, in reference to this verse? What do I need to start doing in order to comply with this more fully? RESOLVE.
