First Lesson
Proverbs 15:16-23,27-29
16
Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure
and trouble therewith.
17 Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled
ox and hatred therewith.
18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to
anger appeaseth strife.
19 The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but
the way of the righteous is made plain.
20 A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth
his mother.
21 Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man
of understanding walketh uprightly.
22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude
of counsellors they are established.
23 A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken
in due season, how good is it!
27 He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he
that hateth gifts shall live.
28 The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth
of the wicked poureth out evil things.
29 The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer
of the righteous.
1st Lesson Questions:
Proverbs 15:16-23, 27-29. Do I believe verse 16? Does my life reflect my belief? RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
Philippians 3:17-4:3
17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which
walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell
you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
19 Whose
end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory
is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look
for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like
unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is
able even to subdue all things unto himself.
1 Therefore, my brethren, dearly beloved and longed for, my joy
and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.
2 I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the
same mind in the Lord.
3 And I entreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women
which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and
with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of
life.
2nd Lesson Questions:
Philippians 3:17-4:3. When was the last time my belly was my god? (V.19) What does that mean? RESOLVE.
