First Lesson
Jeremiah 9:17-24
17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the
mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women,
that they may come:
18 And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that
our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with
waters.
19 For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled!
we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land,
because our dwellings have cast us out.
20 Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear
receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing,
and every one her neighbour lamentation.
21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into
our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young
men from the streets.
22 Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall
fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the
harvestman, and none shall gather them.
23 Thus
saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither
let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory
in his riches:
24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth
and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness,
judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things
I delight, saith the LORD.

Second Lesson
Mark 12:1-12
1 And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man
planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place
for the winevat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen,
and went into a far country.
2 And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a servant, that
he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.
3 And they caught him, and beat him, and sent him away empty.
4 And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they
cast stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away shamefully
handled.
5 And again he sent another; and him they killed, and many others;
beating some, and killing some.
6 Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him
also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.
7 But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir;
come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours.
8 And they took him, and killed him, and cast him out of the
vineyard.
9 What shall therefore the lord of the vineyard do? he will come
and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.
10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders
rejected is become the head of the corner:
11 This was the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
12 And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people:
for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and
they left him, and went their way.
2nd Lesson Questions -
How does this parable relate to today? RESOLVE.
