The First
Lesson
Hosea 5:10-6:6
10 The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound:
therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
11 Ephraim is oppressed and broken in judgment, because he willingly
walked after the commandment.
12 Therefore will I be unto Ephraim as a moth, and to the house
of Judah as rottenness.
13 When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his wound, then
went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could
he not heal you, nor cure you of your wound.
14 For I will be unto Ephraim as a lion, and as a young lion
to the house of Judah: I, even I, will tear and go away; I will
take away, and none shall rescue him.
15 I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their
offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek
me early.
1 Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and
he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
2 After
two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us
up, and we shall live in his sight.
3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going
forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as
the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
4 O Ephraim,
what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee?
for your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew
it goeth away.
5 Therefore have I hewed them by the prophets; I have slain them
by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments are as the light
that goeth forth.
6 For
I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God
more than burnt offerings.
1st Lesson Questions -
What occurrence in the New Testament does V. 2 foreshadow? How am I doing, in regards to verse 6 - that is, am I more into sacrifice and burnt offerings, or mercy and knowledge of God? Is my goodness like Ephraim's, also - gone as quickly as a morning cloud or the early dew? (V. 4) RESOLVE.
The Second
Lesson
Galatians 6:1-10
1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual,
restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself,
lest thou also be tempted.
2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing,
he deceiveth himself.
4 But
let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing
in himself alone, and not in another.
5 For every man shall bear his own burden.
6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that
teacheth in all good things.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth,
that shall he also reap.
8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption;
but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life
everlasting.
9 And
let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall
reap, if we faint not.
10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all
men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
2nd Lesson Questions -
Do I consistently prove, or test, my work in Christ? (V. 4) When was the last time I did? Do I believe that in due season we shall reap, if we faint not? (V. 9) RESOLVE.
