Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
Feast of Saint Thomas Becket, 2011
The parish vestry of Saint Luke's Church, Sedona, Arizona, has asked Bishop McMannes to begin a new evangelistic outreach: specifically, looking at the "North end" of the Phoenix metropolitan area - perhaps the Anthem, Carefree, Peoria, Surprise/Sun City areas - to assess the need for new mission congregations in those areas.
We ask your prayers for this outreach, that it may glorify God and reach out to those who have no parish home and/or no one in their area that is standing up for the historic Anglican faith as expressed in the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.
The formal beginning of this outreach endeavor will take place in September, 2012; however, much work needs to be done beforehand, and preliminary gatherings will most assuredly happen well before the formal presence in September.
If you think your area has a need for a mission church, and you are willing to help in the establishment of the congregation, it most assuredly would be a good idea to visit Saint Luke's Church in Sedona on a Sunday morning, both to experience the liturgy and to meet Bishop McMannes, who will be both the apostolic presence and catalyst of any newly-formed congregations.
For more information on the state of the Church in our day and age, and the uniquenesses of the Anglican Diocese of Arizona and Saint Luke's Church, Sedona, please read both "About the Anglican Diocese of Arizona" and "Saint Luke's Episcopal Church - Who We Are" and, if you would like, contact Bishop McMannes directly.
And finally, until this mission work has been completed and there is a community of faith in your area, please do avail yourself of the weekly streamed masses of Saint Luke's Church.
