Collects, Epistles and Gospels
for the Proper of Saints
St
Joachim, Father of the BVM
Double of II Class
INTROIT. Dispersit. Ps. 112
HE hath dispersed abroad, and given to the poor, and his
righteousness remaineth for ever: his horn shall be exalted with
honour. Ps. ibid. Blessed is the man that feareth the
Lord: he hath great delight in his commandments. V. Glory be.
COLLECT.
O GOD, who didst choose blessed Joachim from among the company
of thy Saints, that of him might be begotten the Mother of thy
Son: grant that we who on his feast day devoutly do him honour;
may ever be assisted by his fatherly protection. Through the
same.
The Epistle. Ecclesiasticus 31.8
Blessed is the man that is found without blemish: and hath not
gone after gold. Who is he? and we will call him blessed: for
wonderful things hath he done among his people. Who hath been
tried thereby and found perfect? Then let him glory. Who might
offend, and hath not offended? Or done evil, and hath not done
it? His goods shall be established, and the congregation shall
declare his alms.
GRADUAL. Ps. 112 He hath dispersed abroad and given to the poor:
and his righteousness remaineth for ever. V. His seed shall be
mighty upon earth: the generation of the faithful shall be blessed.
Alleluia, alleluia. Joachim, husband of Anne, of the Blessed
Virgin the father, here to thy suppliants bring safety and healing
of soul. Alleluia.
