INTROIT. Statuit ei. Ecclus. 45.
THE Lord made with him a covenant of peace, and made him the
chief of his people: that he should have the dignity of the priesthood
for ever. Ps. 133. Lord remember David: and all his trouble.

COLLECT.
Almighty God, mercifully lock upon our infirmities: that whereas
we are afflicted by the burden of our sins; the glorious intercession
of thy Martyr and Bishop blessed Timothy, may be our succour
and defense. [Through]
The Epistle. 1 Timothy 6:11-16
11 DEARLY BELOVED: follow after
righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto
thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before
many witnesses.
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all
things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed
a good confession;
14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable,
until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15 Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only
Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no
man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to
whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
GRADUAL. Ps. 89. I have found David
my servant, with my holy oil have I anointed him: may hand shall
hold him fast, and my arm shall strengthen him. V. The enemy
shall not be able to do him violence: the son of wickedness shall
not hurt him.
Alleluia, alleluia. V. Ps. 110. Thou art a priest for
ever after the order of Melchisedech. Alleluia.
After Septuagesima, instead of the
Alleluia, and verse following,
is said:
TRACT. Ps. 21. Thou hast given him his heart's desire: and
hast not denied him the request of his lips. V. For thou hast
prevented him with the blessings of goodness. V. Thou hast set
a crown of pure gold upon his head.
The Gospel. St Luke 14:25-33
25 And there went great multitudes
with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother,
and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his
own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me,
cannot be my disciple.
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not
down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient
to finish it?
29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not
able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth
not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand
to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth
an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all
that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
OFFERTORY. Ps. 89. My truth also and my mercy shall be with him:
and in my Name shall his horn be exalted.
SECRET.
We beseech thee, O Lord, mercifully to accept this our sacrifice
which wee offer unto thee pleading the merits of thy holy Martyr
and Bishop Blessed Timothy: that the same may effectually avail
for our succour unto everlasting life. Through.
COMMUNION. Ibid. I have sworn
once my my holiness: his seed shall endure for ever: and his
seat is like as the sun before me. He shall stand fast for evermore
as the moon, and as the faithful witness in heaven.
POSTCOMMUNION.
GRANT, we beseech thee, O Lord our God: that like as we whom
thou hast made partakers of thy heavenly food do offer unto thee
our outward worship; so, by the intercession of blessed Timothy
thy Martyr and Bishop,, we may inwardly be profited thereby to
our salvation. Through.
