For the Epistle. Ecclesiasticus 51:9-12
[Mass 18, Me exspectaverunt, from Common]
9 Then lifted I up my supplications from the earth, and prayed for deliverance from death.
10 I called upon the Lord, the Father of my Lord, that he would not leave me in the days of my trouble, and in the time of the proud, when there was no help.
11 I will praise thy name continually, and will sing praises with thanksgiving; and so my prayer was heard:
12 For thou savedst me from destruction, and deliveredst me from the evil time: therefore will I give thanks, and praise thee, and bless they name, O Lord.

GRADUAL. Ps. 45. Hearken, O daughter, and consider, incline thine ear: so shall the King have pleasure in thy beauty. V. In thy comeliness and in thy beauty go forth, ride prosperously, and reign.
Alleluia, alleluia. V. St. Matt.  25. The five wise virgins took oil in their vessels with the lamps: and at midnight there was a cry made: Behold the bridegroom cometh: go ye out to meet him, Christ the Lord. Alleluia.

GOSPEL. St Matthew 25:1-13
[Mass 17, Loquebar, from Common]
1 AT that time: Jesus spake this parable unto his disciples: the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5 While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6 And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8 And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9 But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11 Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12 But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

OFFERTORY. Ps. 45. The virgins that be her fellows shall bear her company: they shall be brought unto thee with joy and gladness: and shall enter into the king's palace.

SECRET.
Grant, we beseech thee, O Lord: that this our sacrifice of atonement and thanksgiving may, at the intercession of blessed Cecilia thy Virgin and Martyr, render us in all things worthy of the mercy of thy loving-kindness. Through.

COMMUNION. Ps. 119. Let the proud be confounded, for they go wickedly about to destroy me: but I will be occupied in thy commandments, and in thy statutes that I be not ashamed.

POSTCOMMUNION.
O LORD, who hast vouchsafed to feed us thy household with thy heavenly gifts: mercifully grant that we, who celebrate the feast of thy blessed Saint Cecilia, may at all times be comforted by her intercession. Through.
