First Lesson
Isaiah 43:1-7
1
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he
that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee,
I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee;
and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou
walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall
the flame kindle upon thee.
3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour:
I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable,
and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and
people for thy life.
5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the
east, and gather thee from the west;
6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not
back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends
of the earth;
7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created
him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
1st Lesson Questions -
Do I really believe the words in verse 1, that God is with me - all the time and everywhere? Do I act as if I believe it? When I do not, what stops me? RESOLVE
Second Lesson
1 Peter 3:1-12
1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands;
that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word
be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting
the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is
not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit,
which is in the sight of God of great price.
5 For after this manner in the old time the holy women also,
who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto
their own husbands:
6 Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters
ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement.
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge,
giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as
being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers
be not hindered.
8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another,
love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise
blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should
inherit a blessing.
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain
his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and
ensue it.
12 For
the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are
open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against
them that do evil.
2nd Lesson Questions -
Are the eyes of God over me, and are His ears open unto my prayers? (V. 12) If not, what evil must I rid myself of, through Christ Jesus RESOLVE.
