First Lesson
Isaiah 43:15-21; 44:1-3
15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your
King.
16 Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a
path in the mighty waters;
17 Which
bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power;
they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct,
they are quenched as tow.
18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things
of old.
19 Behold,
I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not
know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers
in the desert.
20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the
owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in
the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.
21 This
people have I formed for myself; they shall show forth my praise.
1 Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
2 Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the
womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and
thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods
upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and
my blessing upon thine offspring.
1st Lesson Questions -
What is tow? (V. 17) What new thing is God trying to do in my life? (V. 19) Do I believe that I am part of "this people" mentioned in Isaiah verse 21? If so, how do I show forth His praise in my life? RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
1 Peter 4:1-6
1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh,
arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath
suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That
he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to
the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought
the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts,
excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to
the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick
and the dead.
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that
are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh,
but live according to God in the spirit.
2nd Lesson Questions -
1 Peter 4:1-6. Have I lived my life based on lusts of men or on the will of God? (V. 2) RESOLVE.
