First Lesson
Ezekiel 33:1-9
1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto
them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the
land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:
3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the
trumpet, and warn the people;
4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh
not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood
shall be upon his own head.
5 He
heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood
shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his
soul.
6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet,
and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any
person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but
his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.
7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the
house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth,
and warn them from me.
8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely
die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way,
that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will
I require at thine hand.
9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from
it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity;
but thou hast delivered thy soul.
1st Lesson Questions:
Ezekiel 33:1-9. Do I live my life listening for the sound of the trumpet? (V. 5) Have I had warning from any watchman in my life? RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
John 5:16-29
16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to
slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I
work.
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he
not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his
Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I
say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he
seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also
doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and showeth him all things
that himself doeth: and he will show him greater works than these,
that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them;
even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment
unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the
Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father
which hath sent him.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and
believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall
not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now
is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and
they that hear shall live.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to
the Son to have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because
he is the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all
that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection
of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection
of damnation.
2nd Lesson Questions
John 5:16-29. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. So says verse 23. How am I doing in reference to this? How do I honor Jesus in my life? RESOLVE.
