First Lesson
Ezekiel 33:10-20
10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel;
Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be
upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?
11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure
in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his
way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will
ye die, O house of Israel?
12 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people,
The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the
day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked,
he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his
wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his
righteousness in the day that he sinneth.
13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live;
if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all
his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity
that he hath committed, he shall die for it.
14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die;
if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;
15 If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed,
walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he
shall surely live, he shall not die.
16 None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned
unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall
surely live.
17 Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is
not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.
18 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth
iniquity, he shall even die thereby.
19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which
is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.
20 Yet
ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel,
I will judge you every one after his ways.
1st Lesson Questions:
Ezekiel 33:10-20. When was the last time I thought that the way of the Lord is not equal? (V. 20) Why? Which am I most like, today - the righteous that commits iniquity, or the wicked which turned from wickedness and does that which is lawful and right? RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
John 5:30-47
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and
my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the
will of the Father which hath sent me.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that
the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say,
that ye might be saved.
35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing
for a season to rejoice in his light.
36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works
which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that
I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness
of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen
his shape.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath
sent, him ye believe not.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal
life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I receive not honour from men.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another
shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and
seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do
not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one
that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for
he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my
words?
2nd Lesson Questions:
John 5:30-47. How did Moses accuse these folk? (V. 45) Is there a "Moses figure" in my life? RESOLVE.
