Fourth
Sunday after Easter
First Lesson
Job 19:21-27a
21
Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the
hand of God hath touched me.
22 Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with
my flesh?
23 Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed
in a book!
24 That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock
for ever!
25 For
I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the
latter day upon the earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my
flesh shall I see God:
27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and
not another.
1st Lesson Questions -
When was the last time the hand of God touched me? (V. 21) Do I know that my redeemer lives? (V. 25) Who is He? Does my life reflect my belief? RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
John 12:44-50
44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not
on me, but on him that sent me.
45 And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.
46 I
am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me
should not abide in darkness.
47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him
not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one
that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall
judge him in the last day.
49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent
me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should
speak.
50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever
I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
2nd Lesson Questions -
I have heard the words of Jesus. Do I believe and keep them? This past week, was I more in the light of Christ, or stumbling through my life immersed in darkness? (V. 46) RESOLVE.
