First Lesson
Jeremiah 15:10-21
10 Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife
and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent
on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of
them doth curse me.
11 The LORD said, Verily it shall be well with thy remnant; verily
I will cause the enemy to entreat thee well in the time of evil
and in the time of affliction.
12 Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?
13 Thy substance and thy treasures will I give to the spoil without
price, and that for all thy sins, even in all thy borders.
14 And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land
which thou knowest not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger,
which shall burn upon you.
15 O LORD, thou knowest: remember me, and visit me, and revenge
me of my persecutors; take me not away in thy longsuffering:
know that for thy sake I have suffered rebuke.
16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was
unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called
by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
17 I sat not in the assembly of the mockers, nor rejoiced; I
sat alone because of thy hand: for thou hast filled me with indignation.
18 Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuseth
to be healed? wilt thou be altogether unto me as a liar, and
as waters that fail?
19 Therefore
thus saith the LORD, If thou return, then will I bring thee again,
and thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth the precious
from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth: let them return unto
thee; but return not thou unto them.
20 And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall:
and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail
against thee: for I am with thee to save thee and to deliver
thee, saith the LORD.
21 And I will deliver thee out of the hand of the wicked, and
I will redeem thee out of the hand of the terrible.
1st Lesson Questions -
Jeremiah 15:10-21. Jeremiah lamented that his words were taken lightly. Today, is God's Word - Jesus - taken lightly? In order for verses 19-21 to happen in my life, what must I do? Will I? RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
Mark 13:1-13
1 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith
unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings
are here!
2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings?
there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not
be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple,
Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately,
4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the
sign when all these things shall be fulfilled?
5 And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man
deceive you:
6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall
deceive many.
7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not
troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not
be yet.
8 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
and there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall
be famines and troubles: these are the beginnings of sorrows.
9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up
to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye
shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony
against them.
10 And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no
thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate:
but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye:
for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the
father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents,
and shall cause them to be put to death.
13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he
that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
2nd Lesson Questions -
Jesus said that following Him meant persecution, hard work, pain, anguish and being hated for His sake. How much of those experiences have come my way? If not much, why not? Are those things not applicable to being a Christian in our day? RESOLVE.
