First Lesson
Jeremiah 16:5-13
5 For thus saith the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning,
neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my
peace from this people, saith the LORD, even lovingkindness and
mercies.
6 Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall
not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves,
nor make themselves bald for them:
7 Neither shall men tear themselves for them in mourning, to
comfort them for the dead; neither shall men give them the cup
of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.
8 Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with
them to eat and to drink.
9 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold,
I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, and in
your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the
voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
10 And
it shall come to pass, when thou shalt show this people all these
words, and they shall say unto thee, Wherefore hath the LORD
pronounced all this great evil against us? or what is our iniquity?
or what is our sin that we have committed against the LORD our
God?
11 Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken
me, saith the LORD, and have walked after other gods, and have
served them, and have worshipped them, and have forsaken me,
and have not kept my law;
12 And ye have done worse than your fathers; for, behold, ye
walk every one after the imagination of his evil heart, that
they may not hearken unto me:
13 Therefore will I cast you out of this land into a land that
ye know not, neither ye nor your fathers; and there shall ye
serve other gods day and night; where I will not show you favour.
1st Lesson Questions -
Do I know what my personal iniquity is in life? (V. 10) Have I done worse in some things than my father did? Has our age done so, regarding the Faith? How so? Why? RESOLVE.
Second Lesson
Mark 13:14-23
14 But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken
of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him
that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee
to the mountains:
15 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house,
neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house:
16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to
take up his garment.
17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give
suck in those days!
18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.
19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from
the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time,
neither shall be.
20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh
should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen,
he hath shortened the days.
21 And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ;
or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall
show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even
the elect.
23 But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
2nd Lesson Questions -
Part of Jesus' message is to be ready. Am I? What do I need to do in order to be more ready? What am I WILLING to do? What WILL I do? RESOLVE.
