Simon and Jude

Simon is identified by the evangelist Matthew as being the "Cananean" so as not to be confused with Simon Peter. Saint Luke refers to him as the Zealot, indicating that he may have belonged to that Jewish sect which held a strict adherence to the Law.

Saint Jude was the son of Cleophas and Mary, making him a cousin of Jesus. He is also referred to as Thaddeus in the New Testament. Not much is known about either one of the saints, however, tradition holds that Simon evangelized in Egypt and Jude in Mesopotamia; later they joined up proselytizing in Persia where they were subsequently martyred.
