First Lesson
Jeremiah 30:12-17, 23-24
12
For thus saith the LORD, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound
is grievous.
13 There
is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou
hast no healing medicines.
14 All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for
I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement
of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because
thy sins were increased.
15 Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable
for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased,
I have done these things unto thee.
16 Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and
all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity;
and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey
upon thee will I give for a prey.
17 For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee
of thy wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast,
saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
23 Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD goeth forth with fury, a
continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of
the wicked.
24 The fierce anger of the LORD shall not return, until he have
done it, and until he have performed the intents of his heart:
in the latter days ye shall consider it.

Second Lesson
John 12:34-43
34 The people answered him, We have heard out of the law that
Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, The Son of man
must be lifted up? who is this Son of man?
35 Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light
with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon
you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.
36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be
the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed,
and did hide himself from them.
37 But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they
believed not on him:
38 That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled,
which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom
hath the arm of the Lord been revealed?
39 Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said
again,
40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that
they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their
heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
41 These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake
of him.
42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on
him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest
they should be put out of the synagogue:
43 For
they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
2nd Lesson Questions -
How often do I love the praise of men more than the praise of God? (V. 43) Why? When was the last time I did? RESOLVE.
